WOW...
Things People Do On A Friday
By Ruthy Kanagy

This is Ruthy with the SatRDay in Tokyo. I had a wonderful cycling trip to Hokkaido earlier this month. With some trepidation, being my first solo tour, I flew from Tokyo to the northern tip of Hokkaido with my SatRDay plus trailer. I biked south and east along the Okhotsk coast, camping at night (until I got too tired and started staying at hot spring inns, a nice option in Japan and wonderful for weary legs). I met numerous young guy cyclists and motorcyclists who all waved and cheered and I completed 550 km into strong headwinds over two weeks. Temperatures around 16 C like Oregon. What a Lighthousethrill to breathe clean air, race butterflies and count cows. The biggest surprise was bumping into another BF owner on the tiny island of Rishiri, Hirano Kenzo, young Pocket Llama owner. He says to say hi to Steve, who sold it to him. We camped at the same place under a lighthouse between a volcano and the sea.
