ROB ROCKS THE WORLD HP SPEED CHALLENGE!
NEVADA: Oct 2002
Rob English
Rob English, Pocket Rocket owner and one of the fastest lads on the planet, is currently going like a bat out of hell in the World Human Powered Speed Challenge 2002 in Nevada. The latest news to hand is that he won a drag race against "Fast Freddy Markham, former Olympian and world HPV record holder riding his Gold Rush Colorado...." to quote Rob. Who said little wheels don't keep up? And Rob is riding a regular garden-variety Pocket Rocket, not even a Pocket Rocket Pro!

Rob writes, "My trusty Rocket did sterling service as a warm-up bike for my 70mph run (and crash.......)". Check out Rob's progress on his website. Also, look for him in our ad in the October 2002 issue of CYCLESPORT USA magazine. The ad is reproduced here. Incidentally, on the same page is an ad featuring twice-RAAM winner Lon Haldeman (www.pactour.com) on his Air Friday - like we said, who said little wheels can't fly? LET'S ALL SEND applause and encouragement to Rob: [email protected]
Winner!

PS: Speaking of FAST, check out www.roadbikerider.com the authoritative cycling site led by Bike Friday owners Ed Pavelka and Fred Matheny, former editors or Bicycling Magazine. Fred's new E-book will have you riding like Rob in no time flat:Book
