For those who aren't sure where Australia is (and it is NOT next to Switzerland) it's on the left back pocket of the snazzy new Bike Friday jersey! And just as Eugene is the BF Epicenter in USA, Adelaide is the BF Epicenter in Australia. It's where the whole idea happened six years ago to form the Australian Bike Friday® Club (ABFC).

Margaret Day Since then, some other countries have adopted the idea but Adelaide was the very first. Look for Adelaide's location on the left back pocket of the BF jersey. Each year, Adelaide has a marvelous international road cycling race called Tour Down Under. On the final day of TDU recently, there were nine Bike Friday®s among the crowd, cycling together to watch the final criterium in the city streets. Four were ridden by owners from Vermont and California, one was ridden by a Swiss, and the rest were ABFC people who wanted to see the race. The official television race commentator for TDU was Phil Liggett who does that so expertly each year for Tour de France. He has a Pocket Rocket and is a Patron of ABFC.

ABFC will meet in April in Mudgee, New South Wales and we are looking forward to having Hanz with us again for that famous annual gathering of rides, food and fun. Get Pudgee in Mudgee is our motto. Hanz cannot wait to come either. Feel free to join us. For info about 2003, see the notice on the Bike Friday Event Calendar or e-mail me!
