A BENT FOR TRAVEL
The Bike Friday® Recumbent Tandem - By Lynette Chiang

We've had an outstanding response to our call for Beta Testers for the TwoEasy, now code named DoubleDay (we had a large uprising of people telling us to change the name because it was too similar to some other names).

16 Bike Friday® owners are signed up for the program, and already they've voiced their desires about what turns all four of their cranks: seat height adjustability, independent pedaling, disc brakes, dual density seats and so on. Gaylynn, Queen Voice of Bike Friday®, and her captain Monty have been test riding the prototype and getting all the glitches ironed out before the production prototypes go out to our testers who are bent over double in anticipation. They report that the bike is fast and comfortable. We're tooling up now and production is slated for March 2002. The tandem will fold, pack into two suitcases, and be custom fitted of course. The bike will retail for between $3000-5000.

And so to the name. We've generated an enormous list of possibilities mostly from our unstoppable CEO Alan Scholz who has a sticker on his door that says "I'd rather be thinking up brand names". Among our favorites, serious and otherwise:

DoubleDay, TwoFold, SatRDeux, SatRDuo, Valentine'Day, SatTwoDay, Recumbent DNA, Twin Sitties, TwinDerriAir, TwoTimer, WeakEnder ... suggestions welcome but unless it's a DuZy (already suggested by Al) chances are it's already on the list!
