Stephen Strickland FAT TIRE FINESSE
How many of us consider ourselves good mountain bikers? If you've ever asked yourself that question the answer probably includes the ability to ride fluidly over obstacles, the skill to clear steep pitches and the talent to ride with the grace of a gazelle. What you are describing is the ability to ride with finesse. Finesse is defined as the capability to handle delicate situations with grace and assurance.

The ride of the Air Llama will enhance the riding skills of any rider. The 20" wheel of the Air Llama begs to be ridden with finesse. Simple physics are involved. When you come to that 6" drop off, remember a 20" wheel will only roll over an obstacle that is one third its height. How do you maintain a brisk pace while riding an Air Llama? Clean lines with the least amount of resistance need to be chosen. Body English plays a major role. More brain than brawn. Look further ahead to anticipate trail obstacles rather than react. Loosen up the death grip on the handle bars and stay limber. No more pointing your bike down the trail and counting on the full suspension to take care of your mistakes. Clean up your riding style and enjoy the reward of becoming a better rider. You simply have to play by the rules.

Next issue: Inherent Speed.
